Silloth Airfield is located in the north-west of England, 40 km from the Scottish border. It was an important Royal Air Force base during the Second World War. The base was retained after the war before finally being closed in 1960. What remained was a site with an area of almost 2.6 hectares, complete with aircraft hangars. In 1989 the English group of companies D. A. Harrison Group recognised an opportunity and founded "Atlas Concrete Ltd" for the manufacture of precast concrete elements. From now on everything was to revolve around concrete in the place where bombers and fighter planes used to wait to go into action. Atlas Concrete Ltd decided to place the complete equipping of the plant in the experienced hands of weiler GmbH and thus placed its trust in weiler's entire engineering performances and machines.
