We all know them – red hot heating units, whose immediate vicinity is unbearable. With classical heating units, the air flow is heated and transported through a room as a heat “roller”. The accompanying effects are dry air and swirling dust. Heat is transported via the convection of thermal energy. An alternative is heating using radiation. Heat in the form of radiation is first generated on encountering a body. Heat is transported via the air but without its associated secondary effects.
