The number of applications with thin, curved or double-curved elements often produced as architectural elements for façades is rising quickly. Because of the slenderness and relatively low weight of thin panels they are also interesting as protecting, reinforcing or secondary load-carrying layer. The manufacturing of thin double-curved elements [1] and the application of textile reinforcement in thin panels [2] has been addressed in earlier CPI-publications. The reinforcement of thin panels poses specific demands on the material selection and production process, which directly affects their structural performance. This article summarises four case-studies related to the production of thin panels (floor elements and curved façade panels).
