A new office and commercial building has come into being directly adjacent to Ohligsmühle overhead railway station in the centre of Wuppertal, Germany. The architectural concrete façade assumes a load-bearing role in the new construction. The striking building shell, which presents a clear and uniform structure, is composed of facing concrete elements with plastic definition and floor-length windows. At the same time, the façade’s appearance radiates vitality, as its asymmetric concrete elements generate an alternating interplay of light and shadow. The real attraction is, in fact, of a technical nature. The architectural concrete supports the building from the outside and dispenses with the need for façade supports on the inside.
