The company Tubobel NV, from Tessenderlo, Belgium, which specialises in the manufacture of precast concrete elements for underground construction, has developed into one of the most important suppliers in this sector in Belgium over the years. Each year, Tubobel processes about 40,000 m³ of concrete with a workforce of 70, producing amongst other things around 260 km of concrete pipes with an inner diameter of 300 to 1,600 mm. In addition, Tubobel manufactures jacking pipes with inner diameters of 400 to 1,600 mm, as well as various elements for wastewater treatment plants and other products for underground construction. A further key area is an extensive concrete manhole programme, in which Tubobel flexibly reacts to the individual requirements of the customers, offering the most various manhole options, or manufacturing them to customised specifications. Tubobel has ventured down new paths in the manufacture of its concrete manhole bases and has invested in the Capitan production system made by BFS Betonfertigteilsysteme from Blaubeuren, Germany. With this system, the company is not only keeping up with the times in Belgium, where there is an ever-increasing demand for monolithic concrete manhole bases, but is also able to react even faster and more flexibly to customer inquiries and to offer the required products in premium quality. Since commissioning of the new manhole base production a few months ago, the Capitan production line is almost continuously used to its full capacity.
