Constructing buildings with precast concrete components is a modern, innovative method, whereby building structures can be erected very rapidly and economically yet with high standards of quality. Amongst other things, this is achieved by means of efficient planning and production processes, which require that a building’s implementation planning, including specifications as to its utilisation, its technical services and fire protection, will have practically been concluded at that point in time when its precast components are manufactured. As a consequence, for example, recesses for technical installations or other matters related to use have to be coordinated with the professional design engineers at an early stage (Figure 1).
