Space-defining in the “Silberturm”

The “Silberturm” – the Silver Tower - in Frankfurt’s banking district is one of the most well-known skyscrapers in this metropolis on the Main River. Its 166 metres made it the highest building in Europe for a time and its outer façade of silver aluminium remains a special architectural feature up to the present day. The building, composed of four individual structural entities, is the only one in Frankfurt with “round corners”. It was erected in 1978 by ABB Architekten, commissioned as the headquarters of Dresdner Bank AG in 1980 and has been rented to Deutsche Bahn on a long term basis since 2009. The famous banking tower was brought up to current standards between the beginning of 2009 and the end of 2011.
