Proof of the efficiency of cements containing gra-nulated blast-furnace slag has emerged as one of the results of a research project (AiF-FV-Nr. 13185) supported by the working group of indus-trial research associations “Otto von Guericke” e.V. (AiF). Durable and workable concretes with high early strengths were made by selectively improving the grain composition of the fines <0.125 mm, and using cements containing granu-lated blast-furnace slag along with a more effec-tive plasticiser. Apart from the excellent hard con-crete properties, it was also shown that the use of a more effective plasticiser did not conflict with the desire to achieve a higher green stability.
