Fibres are utilised in concrete in numerous forms and for the most diverse purposes. The ultimate aim of all applications is to compensate for the concrete’s poor tensile strength and brittleness. Due to the varying deformation behaviour of individual concrete components whilst concrete is still young, structural stresses occur, which can cause micro-cracks if the tensile strength is exceeded in the construction com- ponent, and which can develop into macro-cracks with increased loading.
