Virtually all German manufacturers of machines and systems for concrete block production derive a substantial portion of their turnover in the USA. These machines and systems are basically automated mechanical production systems whose functions and control systems are complexly interlinked and which, in terms of industrial safety based on the time-tested European safety standards, must conform to the relevant USA regulations. Unfortunately, despite all this, injuries to operating personnel occur again and again. The reasons for these injuries are that the operators of the machines and systems often lack the necessary technical competence, that they operate the machines improperly, due to inadequate instruction and training, or that they enter danger zones to perform repairs or maintenance tasks without adequate protection or supervision.
