In Sweden the main source for concrete aggregates is glaciofluvial eskers. Natural aggregates are becoming scarce in parts of Sweden and the authorities want to preserve the remaining deposits. To handle this authorities have introduced goals for preservation of remaining natural resources. In the year 2010 the consumption of natural aggregates shall be reduced from over 20 million tons per annum (in the year 2000) down to 12 million tons in 2010 and even less later.
