In a country like Sweden there are a lot of building products made from wood, as it has always been a building material that was widely available in the whole country. Concrete was used for the structural elements in those applications where wood would be too expensive or not strong enough. For wooden houses all over the country, concrete foundation beams can be found supporting these houses. Nowadays the construction industry in the Nordic countries is using more and more concrete for taller buildings in the cities. Many house owners at the country side however do prefer to live in wooden houses, which are produced in the country in highly automated factories at prices people can afford.
