Flow Properties of SCC for a unique shapedconcrete pavilion

Filigree concrete structures with architectural attitude

White SCC has been used to cast a unique shaped concrete pavilion, which was the final demonstration project in a Danish research project called “Unique Concrete Structures” running from 2007-2010. The casting was split into two parts. The first casting comprised the three supporting columns and the second one the capitals, rib structure and top plate. Effort was put into selecting the target range for the flow properties for these two different castings in order to ensure complete form filling, homogeneity, smooth surface finish, and the prescribed surface inclination. At the job site, the flow properties were measured with the 4C-Rheometer and approved before the castings were initiated. The project showed that relatively simple considerations of the challenges involved in the casting helped to ensure a positive outcome.
