The temporal control of the hardening of concrete has been the subject of research and practice for many years. This article shows the range of applications of new-type synthetic calcium silicate hydrates (C-S-H) and suggests approaches to the optimisation of precasting concretes. The time advantage gained by the acceleration of hardening is quantified using modern, practical concretes and an optimal hardening process is strived for by varying a basic recipe.
