With its two tubes, the St. Pauli Elbe Tunnel has connected the jetties on the northern bank of the Elbe river to the Steinwerder waterfront on the southern side of the Elbe for more than 100 years. After the entrance buildings on both sides of the Elbe, the east tube is currently undergoing extensive renovations across its entire length of 426 metres. Schwing’s S 36 X truck-mounted concrete pump is being used to renew the roadway. The special: it pumps heavy concrete with a bulk density of 3,600 kg/m3 over a distance of up to 300 metres.
