For many years, Sommer Anlagentechnik GmbH of Altheim, Germany, has focussed on the global demand for insulated precast. Although the requirements which need to be met for thermal insulation are constantly increasing, nevertheless it is also important to optimise the pro- duction processes, some of which are very labour-intensive. With precast, it is very often the case that insulated sandwich panels have to be produced individually to suit varying architecture. This means that new wall connection systems are used, as well as a host of different inserts. Especially in Russia, sandwich walls are in great demand due to climatic conditions. This report introduces the "Waterjet Processing Insulation" machining centre for the production of insulation plates, which is in use in various configurations in two of the largest and most modern Russian precast facilities, DSK Grad in Naro Fominsk and the GWSU 198 factory in Moshaijsk.
