The effectiveness of added fibres on theshrinkage behaviour of high-performanceconcrete

Investigations into early shrinkage and long-term shrinkage behaviour

Along with high strength, low shrinkage is also very important for achieving high durability in the product when making high-performance con-crete. It is generally thought that adding fibres to concrete has a beneficial effect on the shrinkage behaviour. A series of tests have confirmed that fibres do have a very beneficial effect on early shrinkage but that, in some cases, the later shrinkage is greater.
