For the signature structure at the entrance to the Cincinnati Northern Kentucky International Airport (CVG), the planning and development staff of the airport wanted a structure whose architecture would follow an “Aviation” theme. Several concepts were evaluated and a triangular concrete box, whose shape evokes the look and feel of a wing, was selected for the 2-lane, 466m long flyover ramp. Detailing of this striking structure and its ancillary features also followed the Aviation theme.
