The American Concrete Pipe Association has a service life that is greater than the service life of concrete pipe specified for projects with a design life of 75 to 100 years. And that is good. It is well-documented that concrete pipelines and culverts have extraordinary service lives. This notion is embedded in the purpose of the ACPA; to provide its members with a wide range of research, technical, and marketing support to promote and advance the use of concrete pipe. The need to improve quality and production of concrete pipe was recognized on January 23, 1907 when a group of 150 mechanized concrete pipe producers from across the USA and Canada formed the Interstate Cement Tile Manufacturers Association that became the American Concrete Pipe Association in 1914.
